As the American presence lurched towards it's first year anniversary in Iraq, Jim returned on an extended embedded assignment for Smithsonian magazine and other clients. IEDs, RPG and the ever present threat of kidnap make this one of the most dangerous places to work in the world. Despite that, Iraq remains one of the richest stories of our time. It is possessed of a dynamic that words alone cannot capture, as we have seen. It has proven once again that pictures have the power move history. |
